Regional Appendicitis Project

A group of paediatric resident doctors and APNPs in Derriford are leading on a PenTRAIN QI project to standardise management of appendicitis across the region. This work is supported by the South West Children in Surgery Operational Delivery Network and is taking place with support from stakeholders in surgery and the Emergency Departments (EDs) across the whole South West (formerly Severn/Peninsula).
This work is developed initially in University Hospitals Plymouth (Derriford), Truro and Torbay. We're looking for interest from paediatric residents, APNPs, and resident doctors rotating through paediatrics and/or ED in Torbay (e.g. paediatric, ED or surgical residents, foundation doctors interested in paediatrics, surgery or ED) to join the project team and get involved in local data collection.
This work is expected to lead to presentation and/or publication open to anyone who takes on a substantial role in the project (e.g. leading local data collection). Smaller roles would be acknowledged in outputs.
If you're based in Torbay and keen to get involved contact us. If you're based in another centre across the South West and would like to find out more we'd love to hear from you too.
